  1. Thank you for reuniting me with the novel Mr Biswas, which I read and enjoyed many moons ago. My mother put me on to V.S. Naipaul, as he was a favourite author of hers. Jude the Obscure was a book studied by my husband at university, and I came across it in his bookcase, much later. I read and enjoyed the story very much. Thanks for posting.

    1. That’s interesting that you were introduced to him so early. I now wonder if I would have loved A House for Mr Biswas more if I were younger – perhaps – because I got slightly more impatient with my books in recent years. I am glad I’ve finally read one of his books, though, and I want to read more, probably Miguel Street or In A Free State. Some say that both are more eventful and more unpredictable than A House for Mr Biswas, so that’s encouraging for me.
