Richard Wagner (1813-1883) was a German composer known for many of his pieces that paved the path to modern music, including The Ring of theΒ Nibelung. Tristan and Isolde is an opera in three acts by theΒ composer which is largely based on the twelfth-century romanceΒ byΒ Gottfried von Strassburg.
