    1. Congrats on doing this challenge, somehow this post of yours passed me by. I see that you read a lot of Mieko and Hiromi Kawakami. The ones I read by M. Kawakami I wasn’t too crazy about, though I briefly considered including her “Dreams of Love, etc.” on this list. I still have to try H. Kawakami. From your list I am most excited about short stories by Fumiko Enchi and Sayaka Murata. Though Yūichi Seirai is a male author, I was really impressed by his collection Ground Zero, Nagasaki so I also highly recommend.

  1. Hi Diana, I love this idea of pulling together disparate stories from different collections and reviewing them together. There seems to be a fair amount of trauma and struggle in them, along with some beautiful writing and interesting metaphors. How did you choose which stories to write about from each collection?

  2. Really should find a copy of the Naoya Shiga book at some point as I’ve liked everything of his I’ve tried (including the novel, ‘A Dark Night’s Passing’).
