Reading Challenges

This is a challenge to read books set in the “Appalachian” states in America, in a curious, beautiful, abundant in natural resources, cultural region in the eastern US, that roughly stretches from southern New York to northern Georgia. This challenge is without a deadline, and I have the goal to read books set in the following 13 states: West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

Color Coded Reading ChallengeII. COLOUR-CODED READING CHALLENGE – Ongoing

This reading challenge is hosted by My Reader’s Block and, for me, this involves reading 9 books throughout the year that have different colours (or their equivalent) in their title ((1) Blue, (2) Red, (3) Yellow, (4) Green, (5) Brown, (6) Black, (7) White, (8) any other colour and (9) a word that implies colour). The challenge itself allows for the presence of colour on either the book cover or in the title, but I decided to make this challenge more difficult and to go for books that have colour only in their title

I. YELLOW:  The Yellow Wallpaper [1892] by Charlotte Perkins Gilman ★★★★

II. GREEN: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café [1987] by Fannie Flagg ★★★★

III. BROWN: The Man in the Brown Suit [1924] by Agatha Christie★★★★

IV. ANY OTHER COLOUR: Bitter Orange [2018] by Claire Fuller ★★★1/2
